Camping is very popular with a lot of Americans for a reason. Some people love bonding with friends and family, especially children, as you all work together to set up and break down your campsite, and going out on adventures. Other people love being able to get away from the mundane every day routine and go outside to get some fresh air and break away from the same four walls you’ve been confined in for years and years. There are so many different things that make being outdoors so gratifying and relaxing for people. Some people even love cooking outside. Something about having to use limited resources and having to work with what you have give people a challenge that they happily accept. There are so many ways to be creative and make things taste delicious without a full range oven or a pantry filled to the brim with everything you could possibly ask for. The great thing about camping is that there are ways or tools that allow you to bring what you need without bringing your entire kitchen. One of the things that can be frustrating is when you spend so much time packing up and de-packing that you don’t even get to spend time having fun with your friends and family as you are fiddling with knots, tools and equipment spilling out on the ground, and things getting dirty easily. There are thankfully ways that camping gear can be compact and easy to pack up. For example, nesting bowls and dishes are great for keeping things organized. Some people have great dish washing steps where they can still wash and reuse dishes without having to use a ton of wasteful paper and plastic plates and cups. But one of the neatest things you can invest in are camping cooking utensils.
Sure, you can bring along your regular spoon, spatula, and strainer and maybe put them in a big plastic bin. These are great to have on hand because you know how to use them and you are comfortable using them. However, unless you have a great big truck or RV, having a bunch of stuff that doesn’t pack well is going to mean losing out on precious space that you will need for sleeping bags, tents, and other camping items.
Shopping for camping cooking utensils can be a lot of great fun. Seeing the cases and the way the utensils compact and fit together is like playing with a puzzle.
